Although asbestos has been banned as a building material, your home may still contain traces of it in:
1) drywall/mud
2) vinyl flooring
3) window putty
4) exterior siding
5)textured “popcorn” ceilings
6) attic insulation
7) roof shingles
8) ceiling tiles
9) insulation around ducting, among other places
If these microscopic fibres become airborne, as can happen during renovations, they could be inhaled into the lungs and cause serious health problems.
Prior to renovations or demolition, it has become mandatory to test for asbestos and other hazardous materials in homes built BEFORE 1990. The Resort Municipality of Whistler requires a “Hazardous Materials Report” be completed for any building permit that includes partial or full demolition.
Our experienced staff have the skills and specialized equipment to efficiently eliminate hazardous materials from your home while following stringent requirements of WorkSafeBC.
